The thought of changing my lifestyle was a little daunting at first. I wasn’t sure what to expect or if I would even be able to do it. I was so used to trying things, doing it for a while, and then going back to my old ways. What I did differently this time was surround myself with motivation. I made myself completely open to the world of health. I followed healthy people on Instagram, talked to people in the real world who were health conscious, do workout videos instructed by highly motivating coaches, and read motivational articles, books, and quotes. Then, after a while, I began receiving motivation from my peers in turn of compliments. The motivation was everywhere around me.
At the end of the day though, my biggest motivator was myself. It was me who sought out motivation, who put in the work, who trained my mind, who instilled new habits, who took charge of my life, and who transformed my body. Yes, all of those external factors definitely helped with motivation and confidence, and I am so thankful for them. But if that willingness to be motivated was missing I would not be where I am today. Realizing my strength and determination is what pushed me and allowed me to accept all of those external motivators in such a positive way. Motivation is in all of us, we just have to allow ourselves to be open to it.
