Diets are not lifestyle changes. Perhaps they are for the short term. But what about the long term? I know when people go on diets they are looking for a change, but why do most people who go on diets fail? I believe it is because diets normally imply a way of living that is temporary. Because let’s face it, who is going to be on a diet for the rest of their life?
In a diet, you instill a completely different routine in a short amount of time. Most of the time, diets are seen as a “quick fix” and involve little to no understanding of how much time and effort is required for long term success. There also is hardly any thought of how you will maintain after the diet period is over; which happens to be one of the most important things about living a sustainable life of health. It is hard to undo unhealthy habits; and without the proper research and passion to change, unfortunately, will lead to unsuccessful results.
In a successful lifestyle change, you have to do your homework and learn how to set yourself up for success. I have done diets before, and let me tell you, how I live now is far from any diet I have ever done. I choose how I want to live my day to day, and with everything I have learned throughout my journey, it is now easy for me to say yes to health.
